Human blood vessels are the highways transporting ‘life’ throughout the body and it is known the total length is 120,000km. Our mission is to cure severe vascular diseases by restoring the damage occurred within 120,000km.

We have been studying the role of intracellular hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) in the redox signaling pathway. Since H2O2 acts as a second messenger, its uncontrolled level causes abnormal signal transduction and damage to the tissue. In normal physiology, Peroxiredoxin (Prx) and Glutathione peroxidase (Gpx) control intracellular level of H2O2. However, Prx and Gpx are inactivated or silenced in diseased state which increases the level of H2O2 leading to hyperplasia and dysfunction of tissues.
Mode of ActionWith our innovative drug discovery platform, RedoxizymeTM, Vasthera develops a group of new small molecules that mimic Peroxiredoxin (Prx) and Glutathione peroxidase (Gpx) activities. Abnormal redox signaling driven by the inactivation of Prx or Gpx can lead to cardiovascular disease, cancer, and neurodegenerative disease, etc. If inactive Prx or Gpx enzyme can be replaced with each specific enzyme mimetic (Nanozyme), abnormal redox signaling is controlled and hence normalize the cellular function.
